Middle School Head Girls Soccer Coach (Northeast Middle)
PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide instruction, leadership, and supervision to middle school students participating in the sports program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct practices emphasizing teamwork, skill development, understanding rules and strategies, and student-athlete improvement.
- Engage in academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and support staff. Ensure student-athletes attend required study hall sessions.
- Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all other times. Be punctual for all practices and games and stay until all student-athletes have left.
- Maintain equipment and inventory, inspect athletic equipment and facilities, verify inventory, and submit documentation to the Athletic Director/Principal.
- Conduct oneself ethically during practices and contests, exemplifying high standards of sportsmanship and leadership to model desired behavior.
- Complete all required paperwork, including rosters, physicals, insurance forms, and parent consent forms.
- Collaborate with the Principal to provide a strong program.
- Continue professional growth through clinics and publications.
- Manage all aspects of the sport, including internal and external promotion and supervising assistant coaches.
- Hold full responsibility for all facets of the program.
- Promote student-athletes' accomplishments both academically and athletically.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student-athletes and assistant coaches.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a four-year college degree and be contracted by the KCMSD Board of Education as a full or part-time teacher, or have 1-3 years of coaching experience.
- Knowledge of the sport, including philosophy and coaching techniques.
- Successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
- Strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and working knowledge of collegiate eligibility regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Employed as a teacher or administrator at the school where applying for the coaching position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, using hands and fingers, reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting objects of at least 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
