Job summary

Central Plains Steel in Wichita, KS seeks a 3rd shift Shipping & Receiving professional to load and unload trucks, ensure quality, and maintain organized warehouse. This role reports to the shipping team and supports drivers and vendors while upholding safety and efficiency.

You will work with delivery and purchasing teams to meet Safety, Quality, Productivity and Delivery goals. A valid driver's license, physical stamina, and equipment operation skills are required for success.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License required.
• Meet or exceed Level 4 (Heavy Work) in the Personal Capacity Profile.
• 0-5 years relevant experience or equivalent education.
• Adequate dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
• Ability to read, understand and apply written instructions.
• Basic measurement and math skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Sound decision-making based on factors like experience and knowledge.
• Able to lift 100 lb occasionally and 60 lb repetitively.

Responsibilities

• Generally responsible for basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions.
• Pull and assemble orders based on shipping documents.
• Coordinate and execute material handling.
• Perform quality control inspections.
• Sort and package parts as directed.
• Complete paperwork and tagging for identification.
• Operate yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane for loading/unloading.
• Conduct daily checks for tagging accuracy and inventory.
• Report irregularities to supervisor and ensure safety standards.

The 3rd Shift Shipping & Receiving professionals are responsible for loading and unloading trucks for our delivery drivers and vendors, ensuring quality, and maintaining organization of the warehouse. This team works closely with the delivery and purchasing departments to meet or exceed goals for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Delivery.

Job Function

• Generally responsible for completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions and/or core knowledge of shop flow.
• Pulls and assembles orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation.
• Coordinates and executes material handling.
• Performs quality control inspections.
• Sorts and packages parts as directed.
• Tags material for proper identification and complete all required documentation.
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation.
• Operates yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers.
• Spot checks on inventory, completes daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed.
• Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction.
• Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
• All other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills
