Job summary

Service Steel Aerospace is seeking a Saw Operator for its Wichita location on 1st shift, Mon-Fri 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. You will pull and verify material, set up and run band saws, and ensure production and quality requirements are met in a safe environment.

You must read work orders, handle various metals, use forklifts/cranes, and input data into the inventory system. Teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail are essential in this aerospace metals operation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent minimum.
• Ability to quickly learn multiple functions in a complex industry.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of operating industrial equipment, Band saws preferred.
• Good mathematical skills, including measurements.
• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.
• Ability to use and read measuring equipment such as calipers and measuring tape.
• Ability to operate a crane/forklift.
• Self-motivated and can act on own initiative.
• Experienced working to targets and deadlines.
• Adaptable and have a positive attitude towards change.
• Motivated, communicative and goal oriented.

Responsibilities

• Pull material, verify, and process through band saw and plate saws while meeting production lead times and quality control.
• Set up and operate band saws to cut aluminum, alloy, stainless steels, titanium, and other metals to specified dimensions.
• Read work orders for specifications, material type and stock dimensions.
• Retrieve material and transfer stock to band saws manually, with forklift, or by crane.
• Install saw blades and set blade cutting speed for the operation.
• Removal of band saw blades and maintenance of tools.
• Input data to set band saw parameters per shop order specifications.
• Input data into computer inventory system.
• Follow all quality inspections and safety procedures.
• Follow all JSA procedures for equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures.
