Summary

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Establishes and ensures safety policies and procedures are always followed
  • Assist the Production Manager in overseeing department operations by identifying problems, developing, and implementing corrective and preventative measures
  • Assist the Production Manager in coordinating all new employee activities and training for the department
  • Work directly with the Training Manager in coordinating all new employee activities and training for the department
  • Assist the Production Manager in maintaining proper records and logs of activities and operating conditions, and downtime. Prepare and maintain reports as directed by AM Precook Manager
  • Ensure department personnel follows the established procedures for start-up, operation, and shutdown of the equipment
  • Ensure prescribed checks and monitoring of all operating equipment are carried out as required
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, vendors, senior staff, and staff support as needed
  • Understand, support, and help implement/maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP, GMP, Operating Policies, and Safety programs, and help implement goals, objectives, and ongoing improvement plans and activities
  • Report out KPI’s within the team and to senior leadership, defining a plan for improvement and ensuring root cause has been identified.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities (LSW) in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training new employees, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems
  • Other duties as assigned

Summary

Department Production Supervisor ensures employee safety, product quality and asset performance while delivering on time the shift/line/area production plan. This is accomplished by leading a team of approximately 30 employees. Leadership of people includes participating in the hiring process, employee on-boarding, performance management and corrective action. High energy level and excellent follow-up through proactive cooperation with other groups on site and within Daily’s to ensure that their area and people are fully aligned with the organization. Modeling the way for others by living the Daily’s PACT Values and maintaining a workplace culture that engages and motives team members at all levels. Focusing on results to deliver success as measured by key performance metrics.

Education, Experience, Skills

  • Three (3) years or more related experience and/or training in leadership roles; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in food processing, packaging, Quality, Supply Chain, and knowledge of GMP’s.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Continuous Improvement environment (Lean manufacturing) Competent in CILT’s, RCA, 5 WHY, and Kaizen processes.
  • Ability to maintain a safe working environment through proper housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening). Ability to adjust communication style to multiple audiences, facilitate group coaching, and information sharing. Ability to positively confront and effectively impact noncompliance through effective "soft Skills".
  • Excellent people skills – maintain a positive attitude and ability to motivate people, specifically mentoring and coaching individuals in identifying short- and long-term development needs and providing appropriate support.
  • Confidence in own capacity and judgment. Must be willing to face challenging situations. Developed ability to build personal relationships based on trust, mutual respect and open communication.
  • Adaptable – ability to adjust approach to match varied task requirements, adjust behavior to others’ styles, change priorities to meet changing demands, adjust quickly to new responsibilities and tasks.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time through highly developed organizational skills.
  • Ability to set effective and challenging objectives.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting through root cause problem solving.
  • Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Office, NT/XP/Vista version(s)
  • Results Focus – Set ambitious objectives and motivate the team to achieve them.
  • Lead People – Communicate what must be done to gain the understanding and commitment of the people to achieve the objectives.

Preferred Competencies At The Highly Developed Level Include

  • A Bachelor of Science degree
  • Certified Six Sigma training
  • Project Management Leadership experience
  • Redzone Production system
  • L2L System experience
  • OSHA 10 or 30 hour training

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift 75 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to move to all areas of products efficiently and effectively. Must be able to climb ladders or platforms. Must be able to wear all safety and production-related equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment varies from an office setting, production floor, and outside climate conditions, based on the situation. Noise levels may vary within areas of the plant. Must be able to tolerate cold (45 degrees or colder) and wet conditions.

WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as necessary
