WMP in Wisconsin is seeking a focused Fitter Welder to join our welding team. The role emphasizes MIG and TIG welding, fit-up on weldments, and collaboration in a fast-paced job shop. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of open table weldment experience, strong blueprint reading, and a drive to reduce weld time.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in open table fit up for a wide variety of weldments.
• Proficient in MIG and TIG welding on different materials including mild steel, aluminum, and stainless as a plus.
• Strong ability to read and interpret weld symbols and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• MIG or TIG welding and fit up on new or repeat weldments.
• Reading/interpret blueprints to lay out features, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Complete inspection and quality processes per weldment/job.
• Troubleshoot or make adjustments as needed per job.
• Maintain production and fit-up rate/speed across jobs.
• Perform routine daily cell and machine maintenance.

Job description

We are looking for a focused, passionate Fitter Welder to join our growing welding team! Flexible hours & culture with great variety of work and growth opportunities. Overtime regularly available.

This role will be highly flexible and focused on supporting the welding/fabrication department in a job shop environment. Ideal candidates will have both MIG & TIG experience, be strong in supporting weldment prototyping/new part development, have some prior experience training or working with others, and enjoy finding creative ways to reduce set-up and weld times.

Position Responsible for:

• Maintaining production and fit up rate/speed consistently across jobs or parts
• Performing routine daily cell & machine maintenance

Starting pay dependent on applicable work experience

Qualified Candidates Will:

• Proficient in both MIG and TIG welding processes on a variety of materials
• At least 5 years experience in open table fit up for wide variety of weldments
• Strong experience in welding mild steel, some experience in aluminum and stainless a plus
• High proficiency in reading blueprints, interpreting weld symbols
• Be willing to flex into areas of production jobs on occasion based on customer needs
• Be detail orientated, with a quality mindset
• Reliable, honest, with a strong work ethic
• Be able to stand for up to 8-10 hours per day with minimal break periods
• Be able to regularly lift raw material, work pieces, & finished weldments up to 50 pounds
