Job summary

Ultipro is seeking a skilled assembler for diverse manufacturing tasks in our Wisconsin facility. You will read blueprints, assemble mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and sheet metal components, and support quality control and documentation.

The role requires teamwork, safety focus, and the ability to follow procedures across multiple production lines. Training provided for welding/fabrication as needed. Join us to contribute to efficient, high-quality manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble components and finished products per blueprints and process sheets.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and sheet metal assembly within production lines.
  • Read drawings and work instructions; set up fixtures and tooling.
  • Quality check assemblies and complete production documentation accurately.
  • Support packaging, crating, and material handling per procedures.
  • Assist with welding, brazing, or fabrication tasks as qualified.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work area and report safety concerns.

Job description

  • Assemble components and finished products according to blueprints, process sheets, specifications, and established procedures.
  • Perform a variety of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, sheet metal, and general assembly activities.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, process sheets, and work instructions as required.
  • Properly set up and use fixtures, tooling, work-holding devices, and other production equipment.
  • Assemble subassemblies and finished products while maintaining required quality and productivity standards.
  • Perform assembly operations within established production lines and assist other workstations as production flow requires.
  • Assemble prototype, special, or non-standard products with minimal instruction when qualified and assigned.
  • Identify assembly issues and make adjustments or corrective actions as directed.
  • Complete required forms, production records, and other documentation accurately.

Depending on assignment and qualifications:

  • Perform TIG welding, tack welding, brazing, soldering, grinding, finishing, and fabrication operations.
  • Work from blueprints, weld symbols, sketches, process sheets, and established procedures.
  • Select and properly use appropriate welding, brazing, soldering, grinding, and fabrication equipment.
  • Set up fixtures, tooling, and equipment necessary to complete assigned work.
  • Prepare and inspect connections, welds, and finished components to meet established quality standards.
  • Perform grinding, blending, polishing, finishing, and other fabrication operations.
  • Maintain welding, brazing, grinding, and fabrication equipment in a safe and efficient operating condition.
  • Certain assignments may require successful completion of a welding or brazing qualification test prior to placement.
Electrical & Wiring

Depending on assignment and qualifications:

  • Assemble and wire electrical components and systems according to blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Install and connect power supplies, control panels, sensors, switches, and other electrical components.
  • Inspect wiring and assembly work to ensure proper installation, quality, and safety.
  • Identify and troubleshoot basic electrical or assembly issues.
  • Make appropriate repairs or adjustments as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records and report discrepancies or recurring issues to supervision.
Refrigeration & Mechanical Assembly

Depending on assignment and qualifications:

  • Assemble refrigeration, mechanical, sheet metal, and electrical components into subassemblies or finished products.
  • Test equipment and components to verify proper operation.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pressure, and refrigeration issues.
  • Use appropriate evacuation, filling, and leak-detection equipment when assigned and trained.
  • Assist with refrigerant charging activities when properly trained and authorized.
  • Report major malfunctions and continuing difficulties to the supervisor.
  • Take corrective action as directed to resolve production or quality issues.
Quality Control
  • Inspect components, assemblies, and finished products for defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Verify workmanship, dimensions, fit, function, and appearance as required.
  • Identify and report quality concerns to supervisors or appropriate quality personnel.
  • Take corrective action as directed.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Follow established quality standards and procedures throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Perform material handling activities necessary to support production.
  • Move, organize, stage, and replenish materials and components as required.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment when trained and authorized.
  • Maintain accurate material and production records when required.
  • Complete assigned material handling activities while maintaining proper production flow.
Packaging & Crating

Depending on assignment:

  • Perform packaging and crating activities to prepare equipment and components for shipment or storage.
  • Build crates and other packaging structures using appropriate materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Properly block, support, brace, and secure equipment to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Maintain accurate records of crate dimensions, weights, and materials used.
  • Safely operate equipment such as nail guns, saws, banders, and forklifts when trained and authorized.
  • Follow established procedures for packaging, crating, material handling, and shipment preparation.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Properly dispose of waste materials and clean up spills and debris.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, and safety concerns to supervision.
  • Work cooperatively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production requirements.
  • Assist coworkers and other work areas as directed.
  • Support continuous improvement, productivity, quality, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and activities as assigned by the supervisor or lead person.

Preferred

Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Manufacturing or production
  • Mechanical assembly or repair
  • Welding or fabrication
  • MIG or TIG welding
  • Brazing or soldering
  • Sheet metal
  • Grinding or finishing
  • Packaging or crating
  • Reading blueprints or technical drawings
  • Use of hand and power tools

Candidates do not need experience in all of these areas. Experience in one or more related areas, combined with a willingness to learn and develop additional skills, is strongly encouraged.

This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may require:

  • Frequent use of hands and arms for assembly and production activities.
  • Bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Handling materials, components, tools, and equipment.
  • Working around manufacturing machinery, noise, and various production processes.
  • Wearing required PPE and following all safety procedures.
  • Working in different Assembly and production areas based on business needs and qualifications.
