Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification.
• Workshops on identifying and reporting child abuse.
• Workshop on violence prevention in schools.
• Previous experience in an instructional setting with elementary school children.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate openly with others.

Responsibilities

• Works with teachers to address individual needs of students.
• Works with students individually or in small groups, under supervision.
• Delivers instruction planned by lead classroom teacher.
• Assists in classroom management and keeps students on task.
• Prepares class materials and completes documentation for intervention plans.
• Leads guided reading groups and provides AIS under direction of the lead teacher.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
