Job summary

Pardes Jewish Day School seeks a full-time First Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire young learners and bring 1st grade expertise to engage students through inquiry, problem solving, Project Based Learning, and collaborative exploration.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) and 2–5 years of experience, with a strong emphasis on equitable practices, developmental understanding, and school-wide collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equitable and inclusive practices, with respect to pedagogy, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • A strong understanding of the developmental and learning needs of lower school children, including math, literacy, phonics, reading and writing workshop, comprehension, science, mindset, study skills, and social/emotional skills.
  • Ability to provide differentiated instruction for specific lessons, skills sets, and/or units of study.
  • Enjoy working with an innovative grade-level team to foster emotional well-being and academic success of students.
  • Excellent classroom management.
  • Ability to collaborate with other faculty, specialty teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 1st grade across math, literacy, phonics, reading and writing workshop, comprehension, science, mindset, study skills, and social/emotional skills.
  • Engage students in inquiry, problem solving, Project Based Learning, and collaborative exploration.
  • Provide differentiated instruction for lessons, skills, and units.
  • Collaborate with other faculty, specialty teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Participate in all aspects of school life, including after-school coaching, clubs, and enrichment programs.
  • Maintain excellent classroom management and a positive learning environment.

Job description

Pardes Jewish Day School seeks full-time First Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Essential Requirements, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred

Other requirements:
  • Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card at all times when in the classroom.

  • May be required to work outside normal working hours.

  • May be required to travel to perform work functions.

  • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
