Job summary

Pardes Jewish Day School seeks a full-time First Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, located in Scottsdale, AZ. The ideal candidate will inspire young learners, bring 1st grade expertise, and engage students through inquiry, problem solving, and Project Based Learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equitable and inclusive practices.
  • Strong understanding of development & learning needs of lower school children.
  • Ability to provide differentiated instruction for lessons/units.
  • Enjoy working with an innovative grade-level team.
  • Excellent classroom management.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 1st grade with focus on math, literacy, phonics, reading/writing workshop, comprehension, science, and social/emotional skills.
  • Provide differentiated instruction for specific lessons and units.
  • Foster emotional well-being and academic success through collaboration with an innovative grade-level team.
  • Collaborate with other faculty, specialty teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders.
  • Engage in after-school coaching, club leadership, and enrichment programs if applicable.

Pardes Jewish Day School seeks full-time First Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire young people to be excited about learning. The successful candidate will have 1st grade level expertise as well as the ability to engage students in meaningful inquiry, problem solving, Project Based Learning, and collaborative exploration.

Essential Requirements, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred
  • Two to five years of experience preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to equitable and inclusive practices, with respect to pedagogy, curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • A strong understanding of the developmental and learning needs of lower school children. This includes teaching math, literacy, phonics, reading and writing workshop, comprehension, science, mindset, study skills, and social/emotional skills.
  • Ability to provide differentiated instruction for specific lessons, skills sets, and/or units of study.
  • Enjoy working with an innovative grade-level team to foster the emotional well being and academic success of students
  • Excellent classroom management
  • Ability to collaborate with other faculty, speciality teachers, staff, and administration
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Additionally, successful candidates should demonstrate:

Other requirements:
  • Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card at all times when in the classroom.
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours.
  • May be required to travel to perform work functions.
  • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
