Aerotek is seeking a Travel Shipfitter for contract work focused on shipyard fabrication. The role requires experienced shipfitters with a background in heavy industrial settings and ability to travel to project sites in the US.

Qualifications

• Shipfitting experience in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy industrial settings.
• Strong blueprint and weld symbol interpretation.

• Physically capable of demanding environments.
• Willing to travel and work at project locations.

Travel Shipfitter

Aerotek is looking to hire Shipfitters with at least 4 year of experience for Newport News VA or Goose Creek, SC. The pay is 45 an hour and 140 per diem.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform multi-pass SMAW tack welding with consistency and high quality.

• Use oxygen/propane torches for cutting and heating materials.

• Interpret complex structural drawings, weld symbols, and blueprints with a strong understanding of fabrication requirements.

• Accurately work with fractional measurements and lay out steel components to precise specifications.

• Fit, align, and assemble structural steel parts and components.

• Operate vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns .

• Work safely and effectively in demanding shipyard and heavy fabrication environments .

Ideal Candidate

• Shipfitting experience in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy industrial settings
• Strong blueprint and weld symbol interpretation skills
• Experience with SMAW tack welding and torch cutting/heating
• Comfortable working in physically demanding environments
• Ability to travel and work at either project location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
