Job summary

INDIANAPOLIS POWER & LIGHT COMPANY is seeking a Line Technician 1st Class for the Morris St location in Indianapolis. The role involves installing and maintaining poles, towers, and overhead lines, including underground work, with rotating shifts and weekend requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and completion of lineman apprentice training program.
• Must be able to perform construction and maintenance on poles, towers, and underground equipment.
• Capable of operating power equipment and meeting CDL requirements and testing standards.

Responsibilities

• Set or remove poles or towers and install related equipment.
• Drive or operate line truck, digger, or aerial truck as needed.
• String conductors, splice, and correct sagging wires.
• Rig and guide line equipment, assist foreman and supervisors.
• Train and occasionally act as foreman when assigned.
• Operate line or substation switches and repair conductors and transformers.
• Place and clear temporary grounds on de-energized conductors.
• Perform underground commercial and residential work.
