Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a 1P Hardware Systems Planning Lead to own the integrated demand, supply, and deployment plan for its 1P AI infrastructure. You will connect site power, configurations, XPUs, and supply commitments into a single view, driving early gap identification and recovery actions.

You will collaborate with Hardware Engineering, Infrastructure, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Deployment, and Finance to establish repeatable planning cadences, publish delta reports, and deliver decision-ready

Qualifications

• Significant experience in hardware systems planning or related roles.
• Understanding of demand, supply, deployment interdependencies.
• Experience building integrated weekly plans with measurable impacts.
• Ability to translate data into actionable planning decisions.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and communication.
• Comfort in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
• Bias toward identifying risks and driving resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Own the integrated planning process for 1P hardware systems.
• Maintain a clear, weekly-updated supply plan with site, deployment, and configuration impacts.
• Validate end-to-end supply plan executability across components and partners.
• Lead a weekly deployment and supply review.
• Publish and maintain a weekly delta report explaining changes and impacts.
• Track forecast-versus-commit gaps and drive recovery actions with owners.
• Coordinate biweekly end-to-end supply picture updates for leadership.
• Partner with hardware engineering and infrastructure to translate roadmap changes.
• Work with the Supply Chain team to test commitments with manufacturers.
• Anticipate risks and provide crisp senior-leader recommendations.
• Build scalable planning models and operating mechanisms.
