Job summary

Century Aluminum's High Voltage Supervisor in Robards, KY, leads the switchyard daily, delivering safe, compliant maintenance through the hourly crew and contractors.

You will hold 161 kV switching authorization, issue permits, verify isolation boundaries, and maintain post-switch system state while protecting workers.

The role requires experience with transformers, breakers, rectifier systems, a unionized workforce, and strong planning, scheduling, and safety discipline.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience supervising electrical craft in a heavy industrial environment.
• Competence around high voltage apparatus, switching, isolation and earthing.
• Experience with transformers, breakers and rectifier systems.
• Experience in a unionized workforce.
• Strong planning and scheduling with proven schedule compliance.
• Hands-on CMMS experience, preferably SAP PM.
• Demonstrates safety standards under production pressure.

Responsibilities

• Learn and uphold Century Aluminum's Safety Mission.
• Issue permits to work and check isolation before high-risk work.
• Hold 161 kV switching authorization and supervise independent checks.
• Prepare and execute routine switching and verify post-switch state.
• Audit lockout/tagging and control access for contractors.
• Manage electrical equipment inventory and certifications.
• Build weekly maintenance schedules and PM compliance.
• Verify maintenance against acceptance criteria; record deferrals.
• Negotiate outages with operations and schedule.
• Supervise hourly crew, timekeeping and union interface.
• Define competency matrix; deliver craft training.
• Manage overtime and labor cost control.
• Supervise contractor site execution and safety compliance.
• Own switchyard civil works, fence, drainage and oil containment.
• Record jumpers, lifted leads; confirm restoration after protection work.
• Own yard rounds programme and reliability reporting.
• Own standby roster and first line response.
• Plan and run drills for major electrical scenarios.
