Job summary

Commonwealth of Virginia - Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Marion, VA is seeking 12-hour AM shift Psychiatric Care Technicians/CNAs. Includes 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. hours with weekend rotation, shift differentials, and holiday supplements.

Position requires CNA certification within probationary period, strong observation skills, and ability to document patient status in EHRs. Applicants must meet background checks and VA nursing board requirements.

Qualifications

• Observe and report changes in patients’ status accurately.
• Read, write and speak English proficiently.
• Follow written and oral instructions and complete required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assist nurses and behave as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for adult units.
• Document observations and patient interactions using EHRs.
• Provide care during AM shift and may work weekends/holidays as scheduled.
