Job summary

The School District of Philadelphia seeks a School Safety Officer (SSO) for a 10-month, union-represented full-time position. You will report to the Office of School Safety and help maintain a safe campus environment across District facilities.

Starting salary for new Officers is 35,562 for this 10-month role, with overtime eligibility. Summer off schedule applies, and training before the start of the 2026-2027 school year is compensated in addition to the base salary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provides security for all School District facilities, including extracurricular activities; patrols grounds; reports unsafe conditions.
• Oversees building access by monitoring entrances and visitors.
• Builds positive relationships with students, staff and the surrounding community to create a safe learning environment.
• Exhibits ethical and professional behavior; ensures students are treated with dignity and respect.
• Responds to incidents; defuses misconduct.
• Completes and submits incident reports; performs other duties as assigned.
