Position for a motivated, team player with frequent travel opportunities on a small antenna team located in Blossom Pt. Maryland reporting to our Alexandria, VA office. Candidate is responsible to assist with the design, development, construction, repair and maintenance of cutting-edge RF solutions for aerospace applications from HF to Ka band. Candidates must be US citizens and eligible for a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting technical activities related to communications maintenance
- Defining communications system requirements and assessing operational, mechanical requirements of rotating and fixed antennas
- Identifying critical parts, diagnosing and replacement of damaged elements
- Ability to work in an industrial/construction setting with forklifts, ladders, etc. and work at heights safely
- Ability to maintain tight control of tools and parts and provide accurate inventory
- Quick thinking ability to diagnose and make on-the-spot repair decisions
- Work with team to ensure repair parts and tools are requested/ordered/inventoried and prepped for travel to local or distant sites
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with mechanical and industrial equipment use, design, troubleshooting and repair
- Experience working with motors and hydraulics, including repair and replacement of parts
- Experience working with multi-discipline teams (hardware/firmware/software) to produce advanced RF solutions is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers, management, and peers is required
- Candidates must have the ability to develop and analyze technical requirements, assess operational capability and diagnose problems in mechanical equipment, and then perform repair utilizing a multitude of tools from large to precision instruments
- Extensive/frequent travel required for this position
