Job summary

You will work closely with the student, teachers, and staff to tailor instruction, monitor progress, and implement IEP strategies while maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with children, especially with special needs, is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers.
• Basic understanding of instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
• Ability to adapt to various learning styles and modify approaches as needed.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to the assigned student in academic tasks.
• Assist the student in developing social skills and emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson plans and materials for the student.
• Monitor the student’s progress and behavior, maintaining records and reporting as needed.
• Implement strategies described in the student’s IEP.
• Create a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in professional development related to special education and student support.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff to ensure a cohesive approach.
• Assist with classroom management and support the learning environment for all students.
