Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to relate to students, parents, staff and community while maintaining confidentiality.
• Ability to work with independence and limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in achieving objectives by working with individual students or small groups.
• Assist with district and state-wide testing per student accommodations.
• Develop strategies to reinforce material based on student needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment and remedial work as assigned.
• Supervise notebooks, correct papers, and monitor makeup work.
• Assist with group activities, reading aloud, and storytelling.
• Serve as information source for substitute teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and ethical standards.
• Record progress data on goals and behaviors under supervision.
• Support personal, social and instructional needs under teacher direction.
• Assist with basic student needs and supervision during life skills activities.
