Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a 1:1 Support Assistant in Killingworth to provide dedicated one-to-one support to primary pupils, helping them thrive academically and personally.

You will monitor pupil progress, collaborate with teachers and SENCOs, adapt resources to individual needs, and promote positive behaviour in line with school policies. Two years’ experience and a passion for supporting children are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years' experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Experience supporting children with additional learning needs or SEND (desirable).
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
  • A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to supporting children's individual needs.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to accurately record and report pupil progress.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record the pupil's progress, providing feedback to teachers and other professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external agencies where required.
  • Adapt learning resources and teaching approaches to meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Promote positive behaviour using appropriate strategies and school policies.
  • Encourage the pupil's confidence, independence, and engagement within the classroom.
