Job summary

Salt Lake City School District Horizonte Instruction Center is seeking a dedicated Student Support Assistant (SPED) on a part-time basis to support SPED teachers and students with IEP goals. This role involves one-on-one supervision, health-related procedures, and community living skills, including mobility assistance and daily living tasks.

Starting wage is $17.50 per hour with a 0.7375 FTE, totaling up to 29.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• requirements include fingerprinting and background check
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• First Aid Certificate required
• Safety Care Training required
• Annual Health Services Training required
• Ability to perform basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios)
• English language literacy including reading, writing, and communication
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Experience with basic office equipment and Microsoft Office
• Understanding of IEP concepts in Special Education

Responsibilities

• Assist SPED students with objectives related to personal care independence
• Complete Safety Care Training
• Implement student IEP-driven programs under teacher supervision
• Assist medically fragile students with health procedures as needed
• Provide one-on-one support and monitor groups for safety and learning
• Collect student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals
• Maintain records and assist with clerical tasks
• Prepare written and audio-visual materials
• Communicate effectively with diverse individuals while maintaining confidentiality
• Attend meetings and participate in ongoing training
• Work with limited supervision and manage time effectively
• Support a team environment and ensure regular attendance
• Perform other duties to ensure efficient operation
