Job summary

Kentwood Public School District is seeking a ParaProfessional - Special Education 1:1 to support a designated student and assist in small groups, reinforcing essential learning and social development.

Under the supervision of certified staff, the paraprofessional will help with classroom tasks, adapt materials, monitor progress in IEP/PCS/PBSP data systems, and participate in CPI training and professional development.

Qualifications

• Two years of higher learning (60 credits) or an associate's degree or approved state assessment.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
• Knowledge/training in CPI and de-escalation techniques may be required.
• Professional development participation as identified by leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually and in small groups to reinforce essential learning and social development.
• Assist professional staff with classroom tasks and assessments.
• Prepare materials and differentiate instructional strategies for individual needs.
• Complete CPI training and maintain certification.
• Document student progress in data tracking systems tied to IEP/PCS/PBSP.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall).
• Assist with personal care needs per PCS.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Communicate with parents to foster involvement in education.
• Support inclusion for students with disabilities and participate in IEP processes.
