Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools is seeking a ParaProfessional - Special Education to support students with disabilities under the direct supervision of certified staff. You will assist with instructional activities, reinforce essential skills, and help implement IEP goals and PBSPs across inclusive classrooms.

The role includes maintaining data on student progress, working with families, and participating in CPI training.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher learning (60 credits) OR an associate's degree (or higher) OR pass an approved formal state academic assessment.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Knowledge and training in CPI and related safety procedures may be required.
• Willingness to participate in professional development as identified by the principal or district.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students individually and in small groups to reinforce essential learning skills.
• Assist staff in administering classroom assignments and assessments.
• Differentiate instructional materials and strategies according to student needs.
• Maintain CPI training certification and schedule as required.
• Document student progress in data tracking systems aligned with IEPs and PBSPs.
• Supervise non-instructional activities (lunch, bus duty, playground, study halls).
• Assist with daily living tasks and student self-care as needed per PCS.
• Support field trips and collaborative planning with teachers and families.
