Job summary

Columbia Elementary in Mukilteo, Washington is seeking a 1:1 Paraeducator for a 3.0-hour day position, 145 days per year (Mon-Thu). The role supports a student requiring 1:1 assistance with medical needs, behavior, and communication under the teacher's guidance. Immediate start is anticipated.

Hours are 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. The successful candidate will assist with instructional activities, supervision during recess and meals, and basic care tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• An associate degree or 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher.
• Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
• PESB approved assessments: ParaPro, Pearson, Master Teacher Paraeducator Online Training.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with daily supervision to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Administer tests, collect data, update records, and assess student progress.
• Monitor and manage student behavior; share observations with staff.
• Implement strategies to address diverse student needs and support growth.
• Provide clerical and general classroom assistance (data entry, copying, filing).
• Administer first aid, medical assistance, and personal care for ill or medically fragile students.
• Provide physical assistance for students with special needs and assist with adaptive equipment.
• Track and dispense authorized student medications.
• Perform crossing guard duties before and after school.
• Assist with cafeteria/recess supervision and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Participate in meetings and training to support school initiatives.
• Comply with District Policies and maintain consistent presence and hours.
• May be reassigned or take on other duties as needed.
