Job summary

Hollingsworth Academy in Vancouver, WA seeks a Special Education 1:1 Paraeducator for bus duty. The role supports a student on every home-to-school ride and assists the bus driver on safety-critical tasks.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise students.
• Previous experience working with behaviorally disabled students preferred.
• Must possess flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness, and confidentiality.
• Ability to detail information necessary to complete paperwork.
• Must be able to assist bus driver with loading/unloading wheelchair-bound students.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver in loading and unloading students on and off the bus on the home-to-school route and during emergencies.
• Maintain a positive climate for students during transport and ensure safety.
• Complete daily behavior management forms and submit to supervisor.
• Implement behavioral plans per each student’s IEP and coordinate with staff.
• Attend conferences with administrators, parents, and students when necessary.
