Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking an onsite full-time Sign Language Interpreter in Bourbonnais, IL to support a 1:1 student in a vibrant school setting, ensuring effective communication and inclusion.

You will interpret classroom instruction and collaborate with teachers, with a required IL PEL with SLI endorsement and ASL proficiency; prior school-based interpreting is valued.

Qualifications

• Illinois PEL with SLI endorsement required.
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture.
• Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting is valued.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, 1-on-1 sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction and school activities.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to adapt communication methods and assist with instructional delivery.
• Foster an inclusive and accessible environment, advocating for each student's needs.
• Accurately interpret spoken English to ASL (and vice versa) to support academic and social engagement.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training as requested.
