Job summary
RSU 12's Somerville School is seeking a dedicated 1:1 School Nurse (RN) to support a student with medical needs. This full-time role focuses on providing personalized care during the school day.
The nurse will monitor seizure activity and other medical needs, follow care plans, and collaborate with teachers, families, and the care team to keep the student safe and comfortable. Ideal candidates hold an active RN license, Maine CHRC approval, and experience with children; they should communicate
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current CHRC approval from the Maine Department of Education.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Ability to provide compassionate, professional, and reliable care.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to changing medical needs.
- Commitment to student safety, dignity, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized 1:1 nursing care and monitoring throughout the school day.
- Monitor and respond appropriately to seizure activity and other medical needs.
- Monitor environmental factors that may affect the student’s health and safety.
- Monitor and facilitate feeding as needed.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for the student.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, school staff, families, and other members of the student’s care team.
- Communicate effectively regarding the student’s health, needs, and well‑being.
- Follow established medical care plans, school protocols, and applicable nursing standards.
