Job summary

Achieve Beyond in New York is seeking a School-Based 1:1 Teacher Aide to support a student under the guidance of a classroom teacher and agency supervisor. You will implement strategies, assist with activities, and promote inclusion to help academic, social, behavioral, and functional growth.

You will collect data, reinforce positive behavior, and collaborate with teachers, supervisors, and the interdisciplinary team while maintaining confidentiality and safety at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with children in school/childcare setting.
• Successful completion of agency-provided Teacher Aide Training Program before placement.
• Coursework in education, psychology or related fields is a plus.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to one assigned student during the school day.
• Implement teacher- and agency-designed strategies and behavior plans.
• Assist with classroom activities, transitions and participation.
• Collect observational data on student performance, behavior and engagement.
• Encourage positive behaviors and functional communication skills.
• Support daily routines ensuring student safety.
• Promote independence with appropriate levels of assistance.
• Communicate with teacher, supervisor and interdisciplinary team members.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
