Job summary

Holyoke Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional 1:1 at PECK Middle School to support individual students and assist with classroom routines in a diverse urban school setting. The role emphasizes supervision, instructional assistance, and daily student support across multiple activities.

The position requires an Associate’s Degree or higher OR two years/48 credits or a passing assessment (WorkKeys/Parapro) with strong teamwork and bilingual (Spanish) readiness encouraged.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher, or completing two years/48 credits, or passing a formal assessment (WorkKeys or Parapro).
• Experience/training with Special Needs students preferred.
• Experience in urban setting and with diverse student populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Operates and cares for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Helps students master equipment and instructional materials.
• Assists in implementing behavioral modification programs under teacher supervision and maintains logs.
• Assists with student supervision during drills, assemblies, play, and field trips; assists with mobility and personal care.
• Assists with lunch, snack and cleanup routines.
• Dresses for PE activities to assist students.
• Greet and assist students during arrival and meal routines.
• Assists with wash-ups, toilet routines, diapering and tooth brushing.
