Job summary

Discovery Elementary in Everett, WA seeks a 1:1 Paraeducator for 6.25 hours per day across 180 days. The role provides essential 1:1 student support under the teacher, with duties including supervision, testing, behavior management, and assistance with IEP goals and personal care. Anticipated start is September 1, 2026, with hours 8:45 a.m.

– 3:30 p.m. Minimum WA State para qualifications and experience working with children are required.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess an associate degree or higher, or 72 quarter credits/48 semester credits at the 100 level+.
• Alternative: apprenticeship as paraeducator or PESB-approved assessments.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with daily supervision to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.
• Administer tests, maintain data, and track student progress as directed.
• Monitor student behavior and share observations with staff.
• Support diverse student needs and contribute to individual goals.
• Provide clerical help and prepare classroom materials.
• Administer first aid and assist with personal care as needed.
• Assist with crossing guard duties before/after school.
• Assist with feeding, toileting, positioning and adaptive equipment as required.
• Track and dispense authorized medications.
• Participate in meetings and training to support school initiatives.
