Job summary

Watertown Public Schools seeks a Paraeducator - Category 1, 1:1 at John Trumbull Primary School to support students with special needs and implement IEP goals. The position reports to the Director of Special Education and Building Administrator.

The role involves assisting with daily living activities, accompanying students on field trips, and collaborating with teachers and support staff to maximize inclusion and learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of college study (60 credits) or an Associate’s Degree or ParaPro passing score required.
• Preferred: experience working with students with disabilities and willingness to be trained to assist with varying instructional and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities

• Accompany students on field trips and supervise as needed.
• Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion and achievement of IEP objectives.
• Participate in IEP process and serve as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team.
• Support daily living activities to maximize participation in school activities.
• Follow safety rules and procedures to assist all students, including those with disabilities.
• Establish supportive relationships with students and communicate effectively with staff.
