Job summary

You will assist in individual and small-group instruction, support self-regulation and behavior plans, and help with transitions and sensory supports. Prior SPED experience is beneficial; CPI training may be pursued as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college credits; or Passed the Para Pro test.
• Experience working with children; in an educational setting preferred
• Experience with and/or the ability to become CPI trained if necessary
• Experience working with children with Special Education services preferred
• Passion to work with school aged children

Responsibilities

• The Para-Educator will work under the guidance of the teacher and school staff to support students’ growth and achievement including IEP goals.
• Assist students in learning across content areas in individual, small group, and whole group settings.
• Assist students in self-regulation and behavior management to maximize learning; implement and support behavior plans.
• Provide sensory supports, sensory breaks, and use of sensory equipment as needed.
• Support communication between peers and staff using assistive technology.
• Assist with transitions during arrival/dismissal and between classes and activities.
• Support development of social, emotional, and behavioral skills for individuals or groups.
• Review student IEPs as needed to ensure needs are understood.
• May provide personal care assistance including toileting/diapering, feeding, and positioning changes.
• Other duties as directed by Administration.

Education

48 college credits / Para Pro test

Experience with children
