Job summary

Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District is seeking an LPN to provide 1 on 1 nursing support for a preschool student with a tracheotomy. The role includes assisting with routine and emergency medical needs and administering seizure-related medications under the supervision of the building principal and head nurse.

Hours are 7.0 per day (8:15am-3:45pm), 195 days/year. Prior experience with students with disabilities is preferred and lifting requirements are a consideration.

Qualifications

• LPN is required as minimum qualification.
• ParaPro Assessment must be passed.
• 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills required.
• Experience operating basic office equipment.
• Ability to lift equipment or students weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Physically capable of performing essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist 1 on 1 with routine and emergency medical needs for a school-age child, including tracheotomy care for preschool student.
• Administer medication for emergency seizure control under supervision.

Description: Assist 1 on 1 with the provision of routine and emergency medical needs for a school age child, e.g., tube feeding, toileting, skin care, and positioning. 7.0 hours/day (8:15a - 3:45pm), 5 days/week, 195 days/year. Administer medication for emergency seizure control for any student. Under the supervision of the building principal, the school nurse and the head nurse.
Please note: This assignment will involve assisting a preschool student with a tracheotomy.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

• LPN
• Passage of the ParaPro Assessment
• One year of related successful work experience
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience in operating basic office equipment
• Ability to lift equipment, supplies and/or children weighing at least forty (40) pounds
• Physical ability to perform all of the essential functions of the job.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with students with disabilities
  

Application Procedure:
Salary: $17.47/hour (non-degreed); $19.74/hour ( 2-4-year degree. $21.50 (teaching certificate)
