  • Monitor daily routines and help the student follow schedules.
  • Document health procedures and status daily.
  • Communicate health changes to the Nurse and Teacher.
  • Handle medical emergencies promptly and appropriately.
  • Provide instruction to the student per Teacher direction.
  • Accompany and assist the student in all school activities outside the classroom.
  • Implement classroom and behavior management plans for the student.

CCSD 89 is seeking a full-time LPN to work with an elementary school aged student for the 2026-2027 school year. This positions works 179 days.

Job Description

The LPN will work with a student with unique medical needs that require a higher level of medical knowledge. They will perform medical procedures not normally provided by the regular teacher assistant to maintain students in the least restrictive environment. They will also act as active members of the educational team in providing services to students. The Health Aide will work under the supervision of the Certified School Nurse and Building Nurse assigned to the student's program.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  2. Perform medical procedures that are necessary for the students who requires medical assessment (i.e. blood glucose monitoring, catheterizations, gastrostomy tube care, and tracheostomy care.)
  3. Monitor and assist student in daily routines and help the student follow individual daily schedules.
  4. Document procedures and health status of student on a daily log.
  5. Communicate changes in health status of the student to Certified School Nurse/Building Nurse and Teacher.
  6. Handle medical emergencies appropriately and classroom problems quickly and efficiently.
  7. Provide instruction to the student individually following the Teacher's lesson plans and with Teacher direction.
  8. Accompany, assist and monitor student as needed in all other areas of the school program outside of classroom (i.e. mainstream classes, community, vocational, transportation to and from home as appropriate, etc.)
  9. Implement established classroom and individual behavior management plan for the student.
  10. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality and personal flexibility in all areas.
  11. Participate in/attend building and district meetings, as required.
Salary and Benefits

All non-certified staff that fall under the Support Professional Association "SPA" are placed on a salary schedule according to position and experience as part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The hourly range for this position is: $28.00-31.25

  • 12 sick days and 2 personal days of paid time off.
