Job summary
Community Consolidated School District 89 is seeking a full-time LPN to support an elementary school student for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves working with a student with complex medical needs and performing medical procedures under the supervision of the Certified School Nurse and Building Nurse.
The LPN must hold an Illinois LPN license, have First Aid/CPR-AED certification, be at least 21 years old, and possess an ISBE Paraprofessional License, with experience in special needs
Qualifications
- Registered LPN licensure in the State of Illinois
- Current First Aid and CPR/AED Certification
- At least 21 years of age
- ISBE Paraprofessional License
- Experience in working with special needs students
Responsibilities
- Develop the student’s health plans with the Nurse and Building Nurse.
- Perform medical procedures required for the student’s health plan (e.g., glucose monitoring, catheterization, gastrostomy care, tracheostomy care).
- Monitor daily routines and help the student follow schedules.
- Document health procedures and status daily.
- Communicate health changes to the Nurse and Teacher.
- Handle medical emergencies promptly and appropriately.
- Provide instruction to the student per Teacher direction.
- Accompany and assist the student in all school activities outside the classroom.
- Implement classroom and behavior management plans for the student.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in district meetings as required
