Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Paraprofessional 1:1 Aide for the Life Skills program at Daniel Boone Area Primary Center. The role focuses on direct 1:1 student support during the school day in accordance with each student’s IEP.

The ideal candidate will assist with functional academic instruction, daily living skills, and communication development. This position requires a high school diploma, teamwork, and strong organizational abilities, with training provided for behavior support plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Ability to work harmoniously with students and teachers.
• Experience in organizational skills.
• Knowledge of/experience with computers preferred but not required.
• Credentials comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 support to the assigned student throughout the school day per IEP.
• Assist with functional academic instruction (reading, math, money skills, time concepts, and other practical learning activities).
• Reinforce instruction and skills introduced by the special education teacher or other certified professional.
• Support daily living and independent living skills (personal organization, hygiene, social behavior, meals, etc.).
• Assist with communication skills, including the use of communication devices when applicable.
• Support development of appropriate social skills and interactions with peers and adults.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and visual supports identified by the educational team.
• Assist with behavior intervention or support plans under qualified staff direction.
• Support the student during classroom activities, transitions, meals, field trips, and other school activities.
• Provide assistance with personal-care needs as required by the student's plan and training.
• Assist with adaptive equipment or assistive technology as directed.
• Observe and document student performance and communicate observations to staff.
• Promote student independence by reducing adult assistance when appropriate.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
