Job summary

Elwyn seeks an Instructional Assistant, 1:1, to provide individualized support to a student within the IEP/BSP framework during the school day.

You will collaborate with teachers and clinicians, assist with academics, behavior management, life skills, and daily transitions, while ensuring safety and supervision across campus. Position offers school-hour scheduling and a $22/hr rate with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years' experience working with school-age students who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or behavioral challenges.
• Experience with classroom assistive technology desired.
• Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple, often competing, priorities.
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to solve problems and make decisions under direct supervision and consistent with student's plans.
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions.
• Must be able to perform CPR and crisis management using agency-trained protocols.
• Demonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience using/knowledge of electronic records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing IEP and BSP goals and collect data related to goal completion.
• Observe and address behavioral and educational objectives in the classroom by prompting/redirecting the student to tasks.
• Work directly with students to support academics, behavior, communication, and life skills.
• Escort students to/from activities and supervise in educational areas, lunch, bus/activities, etc.
• Participate in supervision of enrichment, assemblies, and field trips to maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain professional communication with Elwyn staff and collaborate effectively.
