Job summary

C Cherokee County School District is seeking a paraeducator to support classroom teachers in delivering educational opportunities for students. This role follows a 180-day, 7.5-hour workday schedule and operates under the paraprofessional salary schedule.

The position requires an associate or bachelor’s degree and passing GACE assessments, plus adherence to relevant standards and safety guidelines. It provides an essential support function within the learning environment.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree required.
• GACE Ethics Assessment required.
• GACE Paraprofessional Assessment required.
• Certification as mandated by the Professional Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

• Use instructional strategies to support learning.
• Provide support to students in resource, self-contained and/or regular classrooms.
• Assist with IEP, behavior plan, healthcare plan, etc.
• Perform duties to meet the needs of students (e.g., lifting, personal hygiene assistance, behavior management).
• Assist students/teachers in using hardware, software, and assistive technology.
• Provide ongoing feedback on student performance to appropriate personnel.
• Conduct small group or individual activities based on lesson plans.
• Assist with assessment, grading, and data collection of student progress.
• Assist with routine recordkeeping and preparation of instructional materials.
• Locate, operate and return needed equipment and manage classroom materials.
• Supervise students in classrooms and on buses as required.
