Job summary

Douglas County School District in Colorado Springs seeks an Educational Assistant (EA IV) to implement a student’s IEP, BIP, and HCP with dedication. This 1:1 support role ensures safety, access to instruction, and participation across classroom and non-instructional settings.

The EA IV will assist with personal care, health monitoring, data collection, and transitions, reporting progress to the Special Education Teacher.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for implementing IEPs, health plans, and behavior protocols with high fidelity.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and respond to complex and challenging student behaviors.
• Willingness and ability to assist students with personal care, toileting, and mobility, including lifting and transferring (with appropriate training and assistance)

Responsibilities

• Safety, Health, and Personal Care: Maintain line of sight with the student to ensure immediate response to safety or health needs.
• Provide personal care assistance, including feeding, toileting, hygiene, dressing, and positioning in a dignified manner.
• Implement Health Care Plan (HCP) with training, including delegated nursing tasks as required.
• Collect and record data on academic, behavioral, social, and functional goals and report progress daily/weekly.
• Access and Inclusion Support: Provide direct 1:1 support in various settings and manage transitions.
• Execute Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and crisis strategies across settings.
