Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers' COVE School in Plymouth, Massachusetts seeks a 1:1 Classroom Support Counselor to provide individualized academic and therapeutic support to students with emotional disabilities in a private special education setting.

Under supervision, you will implement intervention strategies from IEP/ICMP, use ABA approaches, assist with transitions, teach life and social skills, and collaborate with staff to maintain a safe, supportive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One-year childcare experience in an academic or residential setting with similar population of children.
• Computer literate, including Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure school environment for students.
• Give individual academic and therapeutic support to students with emotional disabilities.
• Coordinate with staff to implement intervention strategies based on IEP/ICMP and treatment plans.
• Engage students with academic support, behavior intervention, and co-regulation strategies.
• Utilize ABA supports as appropriate to support learning and behavior.
• Teach age-appropriate life and social skills through modeling and counseling.
• Assist with transitions between scheduled activities and participate in classroom activities.
