Job summary

West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District seeks an EDP 1 to 1 Instructional Assistant for after-school programs. This part-time role provides behavioral and social support to students with disabilities in a structured environment, helping ensure safety and inclusion.

Responsibilities include implementing accommodations, facilitating inclusive activities, monitoring progress, and communicating with staff and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Coursework or training in special education, child development, or related field preferred.
• Experience working with children with disabilities in educational or recreational settings preferred.
• Understanding of positive behavior support strategies and inclusive practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students with special needs during after-school activities.
• Implement accommodations and behavior support strategies per IEPs or 504 Plans.
• Facilitate positive social interactions and inclusive play.
• Assist with transitions between activities and supervise in classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas.
• Support students with personal care needs when required.
• Communicate regularly with after-school staff and families about progress or concerns.
• Monitor and record student behaviors and support implementation of behavior plans.
• Ensure safety and respectful treatment of all students.
• Participate in staff meetings and training.
