Job summary

Sun-Maid Growers of California Plant is seeking a Forklift Operator in our SHIPPING department. You will load, unload, and move product within the warehouse, and ensure accurate palletization and documentation.

A valid forklift license and safe operation are required to perform duties efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Expect routine use of an RF inventory system, adherence to safety protocols, and daily checks of equipment.

Qualifications

• Read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Perform basic math functions relevant to inventory and counts.
• Must hold and maintain a current forklift operator’s license and training.
• Ability to learn and use warehouse RF system for inventory control.

Responsibilities

DEPARTMENT: SHIPPING JOB TITLE: FORKLIFT OPERATOR

PRODUCTION STANDARDS

• Perform expected volume of work safely and efficiently


• Follow instructions/directions from Supervisor or Crew Leader.


• Store and transport product within warehouse and to auxiliary warehouses.


• Count finished goods.


• Consolidate partial pallets and partially filled storage locations.


• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of warehouse.


• Make quality decisions about pallets and finished goods.


• Properly check and maintain forklift.


• Repair damaged cases as needed.


• Stretch-wrap additional pallets of product as required.


• Ensure each load has the correct item codes and lot codes.


• Maintain proper documentation of ALL product movement.


• Properly fill out Drivers Daily Forklift Checklist.


• Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS: Fast paced work environment. Exposure to outside elements. Safety glasses are required at all times while driving forklift. Safety gloves are required for re-fueling.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES: Read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English. Perform basic math functions. Must hold and maintain a current forklift operator’s license and successfully complete the required forklift training. Written test may be required. Be able to lift 50 lbs. and carry up to 5 ft. Must possess the ability to learn, understand and use the Inventory Control Radio Frequency (RF) system as it pertains to the job’s required production standards.

HELPFUL PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Forklift operator and warehouse/shipping experience.
