Job summary

Garanti BBVA Teknoloji is seeking experienced specialists for Z and Gen Application Architecture. The team focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing MAINFRAME and GEN-based solutions, emphasizing architecture standards and reusable patterns.

Ideal candidates have hands-on Mainframe development experience, knowledge of COBOL/PL/I/CICS, and a strong understanding of DB2/SQL. Join to contribute to innovative fintech projects and advanced DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of application development on Z (Mainframe) and/or GEN (CoolGen) platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Mainframe technologies: COBOL, PL/I, CICS, Batch, MQ.
• Experience with DB2 and SQL.
• Knowledge of GEN architecture and development standards for GEN/Mainframe.
• Understanding of SDLC practices and continuous improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining architectural principles and templates for GEN/Mainframe apps.
• Defining integration patterns and performance optimization for GEN/Mainframe.
• Supporting DevOps to optimize SDLC and CI/CD for GEN/Mainframe.
• Providing technical support to development teams and preparing architecture docs.
• Creating training materials and delivering internal sessions as needed.

In that team;

• Designing, developing and maintaining architectural principles and templates for GEN and Mainframe applications.
• Defining architectural patterns for integration with GEN and Mainframe applications.
• Defining performance optimization patterns for GEN and Mainframe applications.
• Supporting DevOps teams in optimizing SDLC and CI/CD processes for GEN and Mainframe applications.

How do we describe the perfect match?

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university program in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of application development experience on Z (Mainframe) and/or GEN (CoolGen) platforms.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Mainframe application development technologies, including COBOL, PL/I, CICS, Batch, and MQ.
• Experience with database systems and concepts, particularly DB2 and SQL.
• Knowledge of GEN application architecture.
• Experience with development standards, templates, best practices, and guidelines for both GEN and Mainframe applications.
• Good understanding of SDLC processes.
• Willingness to proactively identify opportunities to optimize processes (e.g., Z DevOps), applications, and tools.
• Willingness to take ownership and initiative in identifying problems, developing solutions, and driving them through to resolution.
