Job summary

Zenigma, Istanbul-based, seeks a Senior Middleware & Platform Engineer to join a banking customer’s team. You will run application servers and container platforms, and own monitoring and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting on Linux/Windows, patching and upgrades, capacity planning, outages response, and improving observability with Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Loki and OpenTelemetry. Collaborative production deployments and up-to-date docs are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 4+ years in system and application infrastructure management with incident handling.
• Experience with Linux and Windows Server administration, and container platforms.

Responsibilities

• Run middleware and application infrastructure with high availability and DR in mind.
• Analyze performance, plan capacity, and manage patching and upgrades.
• Collaborate with development and DevOps to deploy secure, repeatable production releases.
• Respond to outages, write root cause analyses, and improve monitoring and automation.
• Maintain up-to-date operational documentation.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Middleware & Platform Engineer to work at one of our enterprise customers, as part of the customer's team. You will run the customer's application servers and container platforms, and own monitoring and day-to-day operations for them.

Responsibilities

• Run middleware and application infrastructure in line with high availability and disaster recovery principles
• Analyze application server performance, find bottlenecks and plan capacity
• Manage patching, maintenance and version upgrades on Linux and Windows Server
• Work with development and DevOps teams to get applications into production securely and repeatably
• Respond to outages and performance issues and write root cause analysis reports
• Keep improving monitoring, logging and automation
• Keep operational documentation up to date

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related field

Required Skills

• 4+ years in system and application infrastructure management, including hands-on incident management
• Installation, tuning and troubleshooting of Apache Tomcat and Microsoft IIS
• Administration of Linux (RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu) and Windows Server
• Operational automation with Bash, PowerShell or Python
• Operating and troubleshooting applications on Docker and Kubernetes
• Observability with Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Loki, Tempo and OpenTelemetry
• Application connectivity to SQL Server, Oracle and PostgreSQL, including JDBC, ODBC and connection pooling
• TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, reverse proxies and load balancing
• CI/CD pipelines and release management with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar tools
• English sufficient to write and maintain technical documentation

Preferred Skills

• Experience with load balancers such as F5, NGINX or HAProxy
• Job scheduling and data flow tools such as Apache NiFi or Apache Airflow
