Job summary

DFDS is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to shape technical direction across development teams, delivering secure, scalable software solutions. This hands-on leadership role emphasizes mentoring engineers, guiding architecture, and driving modern practices including AI-assisted development.

You will work with .NET, cloud platforms, containers, and data technologies, collaborating with PMs, Architects and engineers to turn business challenges into reliable software aligned with standards.

Qualifications

• Experienced software engineer with a track record delivering complex enterprise applications.
• Strong knowledge of .NET, cloud platforms, containers, databases, CI/CD, testing and observability.
• Experience with AI coding assistants or AI-driven development workflows is a plus.

• Setting technical direction and leading the design, development and deployment of scalable software solutions.
• Technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to engineers and helping them grow their technical capabilities.
• Working with Product Managers, Architects and stakeholders to understand business needs, define technical solutions, estimate work and prioritize development activities.

• Exploring and applying AI-assisted development and agentic engineering practices where they can provide genuine value.

About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the development team, shaping technical direction and turning complex business challenges into secure, scalable and reliable software solutions.

You’ll work with technologies including C#/.NET, VB.NET, AWS, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Kubernetes, Docker and RDS, while collaborating closely with Product Managers, Architects, engineers and other stakeholders. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll shape solutions, challenge assumptions, mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

• You are an experienced software engineer and technical leader with a strong track record of delivering complex enterprise applications and designing secure, scalable and maintainable solutions. You have strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices across .NET, cloud platforms, containers, databases, CI/CD, testing and observability, and are comfortable moving between architecture, hands‑on engineering and strategic technical discussions.
• You are confident in setting direction, making sound technical decisions, constructively challenging existing approaches, mentoring engineers and translating complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
• AI & engineering: You are curious about how AI, LLMs and agentic development can improve software engineering. Experience with AI coding assistants or AI-driven development workflows is a strong advantage, but above all, you bring sound engineering judgement and an openness to experiment and learn.
