Job summary

Modern Karton in Türkiye seeks a seasoned Sustainability Manager to oversee environmental performance across its paper production. You will lead sustainability standards, explore renewable energy options, and ensure efficient use of materials and resources used in production processes.

Responsibilities include managing permits, audits, reporting, budgeting, and promoting sustainability initiatives; you will benchmark practices globally and prepare the annual sustainability report.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP.
• At least 10 years of management experience, with hands-on experience in wastewater treatment plant projects.
• Holder of an A-Class Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Responsible Person Certificate.
• Strong analytical thinking, planning, reporting, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• High sense of responsibility, strong teamwork skills, disciplined and results-oriented approach.
• No restrictions on domestic or international business travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement sustainability standards across paper manufacturing processes in Türkiye.
• Research renewable energy alternatives and ensure the efficient and sustainable use of materials, consumables and other resources used in production processes.
• Provide recommendations on sourcing materials from sustainable suppliers.
• Ensure that all Environmental Management activities are carried out in compliance with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the processes for obtaining, updating and renewing all required environmental permits, licences and certificates.
• Follow up on improvement plans arising from company audits and certification audits and ensure the timely completion of corrective actions.
• Promote, communicate and encourage sustainability initiatives both within and outside the organization.
• Manage the sustainability budget, track expenditures, funding and savings generated through sustainability initiatives, and prepare the annual sustainability budget.
• Identify, research and benchmark sustainable practices and best practices from other countries and adapt relevant practices to the company.
• Coordinate the preparation of the annual sustainability report, covering the costs and benefits of sustainability programs, analyzing past achievements, current initiatives and future focus areas aimed at reducing environmental, social and economic impacts.
