Job summary

ING Hubs Türkiye is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Java) to define and evolve the technical vision of our platform, working with Domain Architects and Chapter Leads. You’ll build modern Java-based backends, drive cloud migration, and influence architecture across ING’s European ecosystem.

You’ll lead design and development of distributed systems, APIs, and scalable services while championing observability, security, and engineering excellence in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining highly available and resilient applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8, 11, 17 and/or 21.
• Experience with Git and Maven.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA and JDBC.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SOA and Event-Driven Architecture principles.
• Experience with monitoring and observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana and Elasticsearch.
• Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
• Strong understanding of secure coding principles and software quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Shape the technical vision of the platform together with Domain Architects and Chapter Leads.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java backend services.
• Drive platform modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Implement new technologies without compromising customer experience.
• Build and maintain scalable REST API ecosystems.
• Integrate backend clients into target platform architectures.
• Support event-driven and distributed system solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards, software quality, and automation practices.
• Improve platform observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with international engineering teams across ING.
