Job summary

Roush in Whittmann, AZ seeks a Senior Vehicle Test Engineer to plan and execute full-vehicle tests on track or road, ensuring data is collected and procedures followed to validate systems. You will work with Design and Program Engineers, inspect vehicles, and maintain detailed records.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 4+ years in automotive testing, with ITAR compliance. Preferred are an MS degree, some programming basics, and powertrain/chassis testing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• U.S. Citizen allowing ITAR compliance.
• Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in automotive systems design, development, or testing.
• Strong understanding of powertrain and chassis system principles.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering illustrations and procedures.
• Knowledge of fluid flow and heat transfer, systems, and components.
• Knowledge of basic programming and electronics troubleshooting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Support test planning with Design and Program Engineers to ensure proper vehicle configuration and procedures.
• Inspect vehicles to ensure representation and readiness for testing.
• Participate in daily monitoring and effective team communication.
• Maintain high-quality database records of issues and resolutions.
• Support issue diagnosis by driving vehicles and consulting with Design Engineers.
• Provide detailed repair direction to technicians with engineering procedures and illustrations.
• Assist in implementing new diagnostic, safety, or test equipment/methods.
• Identify needs for test hardware or software upgrades and support business cases.
• Maintain data analysis macros and programs.
• Compile test data, perform analysis, and report conclusions to customers.
