Job summary

Sönmez Transformer Company ( STS ) is seeking a Purchasing Engineer to join the Dilovası, Kocaeli Plant. The role focuses on procuring raw materials, semi-finished products and equipment for transformer production, tracking orders, and evaluating supplier offers for technical compliance.

You will leverage ERP systems (IFS) to digitize the procurement process, negotiate with domestic and international suppliers, and collaborate with R&D and production to develop effective procurement solutions.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings.
• Advanced English (reading, writing, speaking).
• 3+ years of related experience in technical purchasing or similar sector experience.
• Experience with ERP systems (preferably IFS).
• Knowledge of supply chain management, cost analysis and pricing.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills; able to work with domestic and international suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement processes for raw materials, semi-finished products and equipment used in transformer production.
• Track ordered materials and monitor status.
• Evaluate supplier offers for technical compliance and value.
• Collect and compare procurement quotations.
• Communicate with domestic and international suppliers and lead negotiations.
• Enter procurement data into the ERP system and track it digitally.
• Evaluate supplier performance and suggest improvements.
• Collaborate with R&D and production to develop technical procurement solutions.
• Coordinate with planning on stock control and minimum inventory levels.

Sönmez Transformer Company ( STS ) is a fast-growing company in the energy sector. STS manufactures power transformers, special transformers for different applications, and reactors. STS was founded in 1976. Our production plant is located in Dilovasi, Kocaeli and we have an office in Istanbul Anatolian Side. Our current export rate is more than 95% worldwide; our main markets are Central Europe, North America, and Australia.

We are searching for a Purchasing Engineer for our young and dynamic team, located in Dilovası, Kocaeli Plant.

Job Description:

• Managing the procurement processes of raw materials, semi-finished products, and technical equipment used in transformer production,
• Tracking ordered materials,
• Selecting materials in line with technical specifications and evaluating the technical compliance of supplier offers,
• Collecting, comparing, and analyzing procurement quotations,
• Communicating with domestic and international suppliers and managing negotiation processes,
• Entering procurement data into the ERP system and digitally tracking the process,
• Evaluating supplier performance and proposing improvement suggestions,
• Collaborating with R&D and production teams to develop technical procurement solutions that meet needs,
• Working with the planning team on stock control and minimum inventory level management.

General Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor Degree oin Electrical, Electrical-Electronics, Industrial, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering,
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings,
• At least 3 years of related experience in technical purchasing area or similar sector experience.
• Experienced in ERP systems (preferably IFS),
• Knowledgeable in supply chain management, cost analysis, and pricing,
• Advance Level of English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, results- and solution-oriented,
• Experienced in working with domestic and international suppliers.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

• Knowledge of transformer-specific materials such as steel, copper, oil, and insulation materials,
• Understanding of welded manufacturing, molding, CNC, or machining processes,
• Familiarity with logistics and customs procedures,
• Previous involvement in global procurement processes,
• Strong communication and persuasion skills, actively participating in documentation processes.
