Job description

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

As a Production Engineer (m/f/d), you will ensure that the plant is operated in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner while consistently meeting customer requirements. You will be responsible for supervising and mentoring facility technicians to guarantee safe operations aligned with plant-specific targets, while collaborating closely with your peers to drive HSE, production, and maintenance plans.

In this role, you will provide strong leadership within the Production department and manage the implementation and deployment of company policies, operational systems, and process objectives. Additionally, you will play a key role in fulfilling duties related to major industrial regulations and management systems, including GMP, FSSC 22000 (Food Safety), Seveso (Process Safety), Business Continuity, and ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).

1. Process Risk Management & HSEQ
  • Safety Leadership & Culture: Issue safe work permits, supervise team compliance, and proactively foster a safe and healthy workplace for internal employees, contractors, and visitors.

  • Compliance & Management Systems: Ensure full compliance with all corporate and industrial management systems, including GMP, FSSC 22000 (Food Safety), ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), ISO 45001 (OH&S), ISO 50001 (Energy), Seveso Process Safety, Business Continuity Plans, and the Air Liquide IMS.

  • Risk Mitigation & Asset Integrity: Maintain, test, and ensure the continuous operational readiness of process risk reduction measures, with a strong focus on Instrumented Safety Protection Loops (EIS-SPL) and Pressure Relief Devices (PRD).

  • Emergency Preparedness: Keep the facility’s emergency plan updated and ensure it is thoroughly understood by all site personnel.

  • Communication & Training: Effectively communicate process risks, safety measures, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) to operators, technicians, drivers, and contractors. Lead HSEQ activities, including safety trainings, root cause analyses (RCA), and regular safety meetings.

  • Empowerment & Reporting: Ensure all personnel understand their obligation to report undesired events and exercise their Stop Work Authority in the event of any anomaly or imminent threat to health, safety, or the environment.

2. Production & Operations Management
Production Planning: Collaborate closely with Logistics & Production Planning to maintain an up-to-date production schedule and optimize plant operating modes.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor daily plant operations, troubleshoot technical issues, investigate incidents, and direct operators on effective corrective actions.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Compile periodic production and performance reports. Ensure all operational documentation, including P&IDs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), is kept up-to-date and readily accessible.

  • Team & Resource Management: Define clear operational roles and specific responsibilities for each technician. Manage overtime schedules in strict alignment with company regulations and targets.

3. Maintenance Coordination
Work Planning & Feedback: Align with maintenance engineers to develop daily and weekly work plans, track progress, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Safety Prioritization: Ensure that process safety and HSEQ-related maintenance tasks are strictly prioritized within the schedule.

  • Critical Equipment: Guarantee that Elements Important for Safety (EIS) are fully operational, tracked, and correctly maintained on time.

4. SIO (Smart Innovative Operations) & Energy Efficiency
Alarm Management: Take an active role in alarm monitoring and reduction ("alarm killing"). Manage the Alert software system and drive swift recovery actions in the event of system failures.
  • On-Call Management: Organize and manage the team’s on-call working schedule.

  • Efficiency Optimization: Monitor the Efficiency Monitoring System (EMS) to ensure optimal plant performance, participate in efficiency reviews, and interface directly with the SIO Center.

  • ISO 50001 Execution: Fulfill data tracking, reporting, and project follow-up duties required to sustain the ISO 50001 Energy Management System.

5. Procurement & Budget Control
  • Purchase Order Management: Create and manage purchase orders for production, maintenance, and workplace needs, ensuring that frame agreements are accurate and up-to-date.

  • Goods Receipt & Quality Control: Process goods receipts and inspect the quality of purchased goods and services, taking immediate corrective action with suppliers if requirements are not met.

  • Financial Alignment: Monitor and manage assigned operational budgets to ensure full alignment with company financial targets.

6. Subcontractor & Facility Management
  • Subcontractor Supervision: Inspect contractor work on-site, demonstrate visible safety leadership, and intervene using Stop Work Authority when necessary.

  • Logistics Safety: Verify that all transport drivers possess the required competencies and legal authorities for liquid loading, unloading, and transfer operations. Organize and document training for both new and existing drivers.
