Job summary

El Sewedy Industries Group in Turkey is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong SolidWorks Sheet Metal expertise to model, draw, and optimize sheet metal components. You will prepare 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings, support prototype fabrication on the shop floor, and ensure designs meet manufacturing capabilities and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in sheet metal manufacturing/fabrication.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, especially SolidWorks Sheet Metal.
• Strong AutoCAD skills and ability to produce 2D drawings and DXF files.
• Hands-on knowledge of sheet metal processes (cutting, bending, forming, assembly).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop 3D models using SolidWorks focusing on sheet metal.
• Create accurate 2D fabrication drawings, flat patterns, and DXF files for shopfloor execution.
• Provide technical support during prototype fabrication and manufacturing activities.
• Identify and solve manufacturing challenges arising during fabrication.
• Coordinate with Production and Quality teams to ensure manufacturability and adherence to specs.
• Support product development and design optimization with the R&D team.
• Apply Value Engineering to reduce cost and complexity in designs.
• Optimize flat patterns and material usage to minimize waste.
• Review designs against manufacturing capabilities (cutting, bending, forming, assembly).
• Maintain accurate technical drawings, revisions, and engineering documentation.

Job description

Job Responsibility

• Prepare and develop 3D models using SolidWorks, with a strong focus on SolidWorks Sheet Metal.
• Prepare accurate and detailed 2D fabrication drawings, flat patterns, and DXF files ready for shop-floor execution.
• Provide technical support and follow up on prototype fabrication and manufacturing activities on the shop floor.
• Identify technical and manufacturing challenges during fabrication and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with Production and Quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and executed according to technical specifications.
• Support product development and design optimization activities in coordination with the R&D team.
• Apply Value Engineering principles to improve designs, reduce manufacturing complexity, and optimize production costs.
• Optimize flat patterns and material utilization to minimize scrap and material waste.
• Review designs and drawings considering actual manufacturing capabilities, including cutting, bending, forming, and assembly.
• Ensure technical drawings, revisions, and related engineering documentation are accurate and properly maintained.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within Sheet Metal manufacturing/fabrication.
• Advanced hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks, particularly SolidWorks Sheet Metal.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong ability to prepare 2D fabrication drawings, flat patterns, and DXF files.
• Solid practical knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including cutting, bending, forming, and assembly.
• Good understanding of manufacturability, material utilization, and cost optimization.
• Practical shop-floor exposure with the ability to troubleshoot manufacturing-related technical issues.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills.
